Steeda was originally founded in the US by former racing driver, Dario Orlando, to engineer Ford vehicles for race performance. The company has the world’s largest range of Ford parts and accessories to enable performance modifications and its production facility in Georgia, USA, includes both a build centre to modify vehicles and a production plant, manufacturing parts.
In 2012, Robbie Kazandjian, secured the rights to become the exclusive Steeda distributor in the UK and across the EU. Steeda.co.uk now supplies Steeda parts to dealers, mechanics and car enthusiasts across Europe.
As a significant proportion of Steeda’s transactions through the .co.uk website are trade sales, the company needed a true business-to-business solution that would offer a rapid and reliable service supporting the prestige of the Steeda brand.
The company also needed a software solution that could integrate seamlessly with its existing Actinic website and offer real time stock data to aid the company’s purchasing lead times and optimise product availability for its pan-European customers.
Steeda was also looking for a fulfilment partner that could handle the variety of products the company offers, despite the awkward size and shape of many products and the need to handle delicate automotive parts with care.
Explains Robbie Kazandjian: “We wanted a partner with good systems who could operate on a Kanban basis, turning our stock quickly and working as an integral part of our global supply chain.”
Exact Abacus was able to offer Steeda a completely integrated service that encompasses ERP software, fulfilment, delivery and inbound logistics. This provides an effective software platform for the existing website and a joined up approach to managing the products’ journey from manufacture in the USA to customer deliveries all over Europe.
The Exact Abacus software provides Steeda with reliable, real time data, automatically updating availability on the website to ensure a slick service to customers.
It also analyses sales data, aiding forecasting for both purchasing and sales, thereby underpinning the efficiency of the entire operation from procurement to customer delivery.
The combination of inbound logistics, fulfilment and delivery services means that Steeda is able to outsource all product handling to a single, accountable partner, removing extensive admin and resourcing requirements for its own team and allowing the company to remain agile and focus on market development.
Robbie Kazanjian adds: “The software technology from Exact Abacus was way ahead of anything else we looked at. I was also impressed with the company’s modern warehouse facilities and professional approach.”
